In this month's GLAMOUR magazine, our brand new cover star Claire Danes talks about her her feisty Homeland character, loving motherhood and how she fancies the pants off her husband Hugh Dancy. Plus, she gave us her views on working in a male-dominated industry. "There are still shockingly few women who hold real positions of power in my industry," Claire tells us exclusively. "I think because we don't, still, have that much experience with accepting women in authoritative roles, y'know? We're all a bit jumpy about that. I think there's a mental leap women have to take because we've internalised this idea that we're not supposed to forge the way. I think that's changing but it's a Catch 22: you need to see women successfully take those roles on to feel secure enough to dare attempt it yourself. The statistics are clear, there's not [a rueful laugh] absolute parity… " Regardless, Claire plays the role of Carrie on the award-winning Homeland, but does she see similarities with the character she plays? "The truth is, Carrie is so dissimilar to me on basically every level," she replied. "I would be an abysmal CIA officer. I'm not even a political beast. I make imaginative leaps all the time. I'm very good at pretending, I guess." In the December issue she talks about how motherhood astounds her every day. Speaking about being a mum to little Cyrus, she said: "I love it, I love him and I'm endlessly amazed by the depths to which I do, at how involuntary and physical and profound it is. Even when he's sleeping there's this deep sense of responsibility. Once you make that choice, you can never un-make it and I don't think there's any other situation or obligation where that's the case. It's beautiful. And humbling." Naturally, Claire is missing her Homeland costar, Damian Lewis: "I miss acting with Damian, first and foremost, He is an extraordinarily gifted performer. I also miss his friendship, he's a very bright, funny chap, who adores his wife and kids. It's rare to find someone equally as talented as he is kind and sane."
